The problem

Driver fatigue, an underestimated danger

Driver fatigue is one of the leading causes of accidents. Yet existing solutions are often intrusive, stressful or simply ignored by drivers.

0%

of road accidents involve human error (source: ONISR)

0+

people killed on French roads every year

0

of fatal highway accidents are linked to drowsiness or fatigue

Driver fatigue, inattention (phone use, visual distractions) and stress are omnipresent risk factors that are difficult for the driver to self-assess. Unlike alcohol or speeding, these behaviors are not detected by existing devices (speed cameras, roadside checks).

Today, no mainstream solution addresses these risks in a simple, non-intrusive and educational way. Existing onboard systems (ADAS) focus on the vehicle (braking, lane keeping) but do not directly address driver behavior. This is precisely the gap that Sentinel Drive Sense fills.

About us

A project born from a conviction

Ourmission

Sentinel Drive was born from the conviction that technology can save lives on the road — not by replacing the driver, but by helping them become more aware of their own state. The goal is to develop an accessible, ethical and educational road safety prevention tool that empowers every driver.

The project's origin

The Sentinel Drive project started from a simple observation: while advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are multiplying, none directly address the behavioral causes of accidents — fatigue, inattention, stress. These human factors, responsible for 90% of accidents, remain a blind spot in road safety prevention.

Our values

Prevention, not control

We inform and raise awareness among drivers. We never take control of the vehicle and never penalize anyone.

Privacy respect

No geolocation, no tracking. Behavioral data is processed locally and belongs to the user.

Accessibility

Our solution is designed to be easy to use and accessible to everyone, not just premium vehicles.

Educational approach

Every trip is a learning opportunity. Our safety score and advice enable continuous improvement.

Where we are

Pre-MVP phase — seeking guidance, field feedback and pilot partners.

Sentinel Drive is currently in product design and technology validation phase. The functional prototype is being prepared. The project is not yet incorporated as a company — it is an entrepreneurial initiative currently being structured.

The solution

Sentinel Drive, your AI copilot

Sentinel Drive is a mobile app that acts as an AI copilot. It passively monitors driver alertness and only intervenes when useful.

Sentinel Drive Sense App

What the app does

01

Simple trip start

Start your trip with a single gesture. The app runs in the background and analyzes alertness in real time, with no interaction needed while driving.

02

Detection and recommendation

Fatigue sign detection and non-intrusive break recommendation. A single smart alert per trip, only when necessary.

03

Educational summary

Educational message at the end of the trip with a safety score and personalized advice to improve your driving habits.

What the app does not do

No medical diagnosis
No facial recognition
No video recording
No distraction while driving

Key point

Sentinel Drive Sense is a prevention and awareness tool. It never intervenes on vehicle mechanics (braking, steering, acceleration). The driver remains in full control at all times.

Detailed operation

How Sentinel Drive Sense works

Sentinel Drive Sense operates in two complementary phases that form a virtuous cycle of prevention and improvement.

Phase 1 — During the trip

The system runs in the background throughout the trip, requiring no action from the driver.

Sentinel Drive Dashboard
01

Continuous behavioral analysis

Sensors continuously analyze driver signals: eye blink frequency, gaze direction, facial micro-expressions, head movements and body posture. This analysis is performed in real time, locally, without sending data to an external server.

02

Intelligent risk detection

Artificial intelligence algorithms cross-reference these signals to identify risky situations: onset of drowsiness, visual attention loss (gaze diverted from the road), signs of stress or tension. Detection is contextual and adapts to the driver's profile.

03

Personalized preventive alert

When a risk is detected, a non-intrusive alert is issued to refocus the driver's attention. The alert is calibrated according to the risk level: discreet visual notification for mild distraction, more pronounced auditory alert for advanced drowsiness risk.

Phase 2 — After the trip

At the end of each trip, the driver accesses a comprehensive review that transforms the driving experience into a learning opportunity.

Sentinel Drive Sense Score
01

Overall safety score

A score out of 100 reflects overall driving quality during the trip: maintained vigilance, responsiveness, absence of fatigue signs. This score allows drivers to benchmark themselves and track their progress over time.

02

Detailed trip report

A visual report identifies the exact moments when risks were detected, the types of risks (fatigue, inattention, stress), and the driver's response to alerts. This visualization helps understand one's own driving patterns.

03

Personalized educational advice

Based on results, concrete recommendations are offered: take a break every 2 hours, avoid driving after 10 PM if fatigue is recurrent, adjust driving position, etc. These tips are personalized and evolve with the driver's profile.

Key features

Sentinel Drive Sense capabilities in detail

Sentinel Drive Sense integrates several detection and support modules, each designed to address a specific aspect of road safety prevention.

Fatigue detection

Identification of yawning, prolonged blinking, micro-sleep episodes and progressive alertness decline. The system detects early signs of fatigue before the driver becomes aware of them.

Inattention detection

Gaze direction analysis and visual distraction detection (eyes diverted from road, phone use, dashboard interactions). The system measures the time the driver's eyes are off the road.

Stress detection

Monitoring behavioral indicators of tension while driving: hand clenching, abrupt movements, stress facial expressions. Driving stress is an often-underestimated risk factor that degrades decision-making.

Multi-level adaptive alerts

Progressive alert system that adapts to detected risk level. Three alert levels: discreet visual notification (level 1), auditory alert (level 2), combined alert with break recommendation (level 3).

Post-trip safety score

Overall evaluation of each trip out of 100 points, factoring in vigilance, responsiveness and absence of risky behaviors. Score history to track progress over weeks and months.

Educational advice and tracking

Personalized recommendations based on trip analysis: break management, high-risk driving times, habits to change. A dashboard visualizes progress and identifies weak points.

The market

A growing market with an unaddressed need

The road safety and driver assistance solutions market is expanding rapidly, driven by European regulation, increasing demand for safety, and technological advances in artificial intelligence.

A market blind spot

Current ADAS systems (brake assist, lane keeping, adaptive cruise control) focus on the vehicle's external environment. They do not address driver behavior, which is nevertheless the cause of 90% of accidents. Sentinel Drive Sense fills this gap by positioning itself on behavioral prevention — a segment still largely unexploited by existing players.

A favorable regulatory context

European regulations are evolving in favor of active vehicle safety. The GSR2 regulation (General Safety Regulation 2), which came into effect in July 2024, mandates new safety systems on new vehicles, including drowsiness detection. This regulatory trend creates structural demand for solutions like Sentinel Drive Sense.

The Sentinel Drive opportunity

Sentinel Drive positions itself in a unique niche: a behavioral prevention solution accessible to the general public, independent of the car manufacturer, and compatible with any type of vehicle. Unlike factory-integrated ADAS, our solution is portable, affordable, and focused on pedagogy rather than automation.

Target audience

Who is Sentinel Drive Sense for

Sentinel Drive Sense is designed to meet the needs of different driver profiles, with a tailored value proposition for each segment.

Individual drivers

The primary target market. Millions of French drivers make daily commutes or long trips without any behavioral prevention tool. Sentinel Drive Sense offers them a discreet driving companion that monitors their alertness and helps them adopt better driving habits.

Use cases: daily commutes, long trips, night driving, senior drivers.

Ride-hailing and taxi drivers

Professional drivers accumulate long driving hours, often at night and under stressful conditions. Fatigue is a major risk to their safety and that of their passengers. Sentinel Drive Sense can become a daily prevention tool integrated into their professional routine.

Use cases: long-duration driving, irregular hours, passenger responsibility.

Driving schools

Driving schools train tomorrow's drivers. Integrating Sentinel Drive Sense into their educational program would raise awareness among student drivers about fatigue and inattention risks from the very start of their training, complementing traditional instruction.

Use cases: initial training, educational awareness, license preparation.

Professional fleets

Companies with vehicle fleets (delivery, construction, transport) have a direct interest in reducing driver accidents: lower insurance costs, compliance with workplace safety obligations, and employee protection. Sentinel Drive Sense can be integrated into a professional risk prevention policy.

Use cases: occupational risk prevention, accident reduction, regulatory compliance.

Our ethical positioning

What Sentinel Drive Sense does NOT do

Our approach is based on driver empowerment, not substitution or surveillance. This distinction is fundamental to our positioning.

Never takes control of the vehicle — Sentinel Drive Sense is a prevention tool, not an autopilot system. The driver remains fully in control.

Does not geolocate or track drivers — No GPS position data is collected. Behavioral data is processed locally and not shared with third parties.

Does not penalize or judge — The system doesn't rate drivers to penalize them, but to help them improve. The approach is supportive and educational.

Never replaces driver vigilance — Sentinel Drive Sense complements human vigilance, it doesn't replace it. Drivers should never rely solely on a technological tool.

Sentinel Drive Sense is a prevention and awareness tool. It respects privacy, empowers the driver, and never intervenes on vehicle mechanics. You remain in control of your driving, always.
